The Surface Pro 4 is very lightweight and powerful with Intel Core i5 or i7 Processor, 4GB / 8GB of RAM and a 128 GB /256 GB solid state drive. The Surface Pro 4 comes with a lot of upgrades, the most notable one being the increased screen size from 12 to 12.3 inches. The bezel surrounding the screen has also been decreased, adding more space. The Pro 4's PixelSense touch screen is extremely thin at four hundred microns and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 (the Pro 3 has Gorilla Glass 3). Microsoft claims that this is the thinnest optical stack up that anyone can ship.

The Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4 are both 29.2cm by 20.1cm, but the Surface Pro 4 is 0.83cm thick while the Surface Pro 3 is 0.91cm thick. The Surface Pro 3 is also slightly heavier than the Surface Pro 4, with the least expensive configuration weighing in at 798.3g to 766.5g. Both devices have ports that serve similar functions: a USB 3.0 port, a microSD card slot, and a Mini Display port

The Surface Pro 5 comes with some new features that the Surface Pro 4 did not have. One of those features is the seventh-gen Intel Core processors. The updated processors not only improve speed but also graphics. Another change is the battery life. The new Surface Pro can last up to 13.5 hours on a single charge, which is an improvement from the earlier model's 9-hour battery life (when new). Additionally, the kick-stand hinge has been updated to recline at a flatter angle of 165 degrees. In summary, aside from a faster processor, there are only minor physical differences between the two models.
